2012 Schedule

Very bizarre schedule with 5 night games and 5 games at 3 PM. Add to that the fact that we play the Ravens twice in 14 days and finish with 5 of the last 7 in the division and things are sure to get interesting late in the season in the AFC North.

Pens Hockey Game Party 4/20 at Bennett’s

After an abysmal start to the series, the Pens finally played 60 minutes of hockey tonight and facing a sweep managed to score 8 unanswered goals to win 10-3 and send the series back to Pittsburgh.  To keep the momentum going, I think it’s time for a gathering at Bennett’s to watch the next game on Friday night.  Laura & I will be there and we know of at least a few other people who are coming.  Join us & make some noise for the Black & Gold on ice and chow down on a few St Paul Stacker Primanti style samiches (there will even some Pens prizes given away in drawing after the 1

80th Season Throwback Uniforms

I got a call from Mayor Paul who was back in the Burgh and when I answered all I heard was “Oh my Gawd, this is terrible, it’s on TV & I’m watching it live - go to the internet & look. After a few minutes I figured out that he was watching the unveiling of the 80s throwback uniforms which are from the 30s and have horizontal stripes.  Needless to say, he doesn’t like them very much but we want to hear what you have to say so we’re having a contest for the best comments. Please tell us what you think by putting a comment on o

Pens Back in the NHL Playoffs

We know there are lots of Pens hockey fans in our group and I’m sure all of them are excited to see the first round matchup with the Flyers that begins TONIGHT.  Because there is the potential for as many as 28 games in less than 2 months, we don’t have full-blown parties for every game until / unless the Pens make the finals like they did in 2008 & 2009 - if / when that happens we would pull out all the stops!

Mayor Paul's 2011 Wrap-up

The 2011 season and 5 year cumulative numbers Glenn has provided in his season wrap-up message speak for themselves. We, the Steelers fans of Minnesota, have come a long way since our first gathering at the Starting Gate in 1991 and we have so much for which we can be so very proud. First and foremost we cheer for a franchise that is among the "winningest" (if such a word exists) since free agency was instituted back in 1992, a team that almost always drafts at or near the bottom of each round and still maintains a winning tradition.

2011-12 Season Wrap-up & Thank Yous

Well…another NFL season has come to a close and ironically the last team to make it into the playoffs was also the on hoisting the trophy in Indianapolis.  With 5 of the last 7 champions coming out of Wildcard Weekend, it just goes to show once again that it is more important to be playing the best football in Jan & Feb than it is to be the top team throughout the entire season.
