Thursday Night Football - A Browns Game that REALLY Matters

.. well to us anyway

What a strange Sunday - I don’t know about you but not being stressed in the 4th quarter seemed kind of weird (but in a very good way Smile).

The offense & defense certainly did their parts in last Sunday’s game but in contrast to the recent past, this year’s special teams have been just that, SPECIAL, and this was their best effort in years.  What makes that effort even more special is the fact that it was fueled by the up & coming players with Cam Heyward blocking a field goal, Stevenson Sylvester forcing a fumble on kickoff coverage & Emmanuel Sanders recovering it and then Antonio Brown returning a punt for a TD … and all of that in one game.

As great as it was to see the Steelers steamroll a division rival that was being talked about as a potential AFC North challenger, with a Thursday night game on tap, there is no time for the team to revel in their 35-7 victory.  The Cleve Brownies come to Heinz field and despite their lowly record, this is their Super Bowl and they’d like nothing more than to derail the Steelers division title hopes.  That said, if the Black and Gold stays focused and avoids mistakes they are more than capable of winning this game.

On the local front, SFOM had its second largest crowd of the year and boy did they have a great time.  With the Steelers scoring a team record 28 points in the 2nd Quarter, “Jimmy the Spoons” almost had his arms fall off from playing along with all of the fight songs.  This week’s game is very important in keeping the pressure on the Ravens & Texans and we need another REALLY BIG crowd so come on out to McGovern’s and help us cheer our team on to victory.

As an added bonus, the Pens play the Flyers at 6:00 PM and we’ll have that game on several TVs during the Steelers pregame and will give regular updates during the football game.

Holiday Reminder:  The Steelers have games at noon on both Christmas Eve (a Saturday) and New Year’s Day (a Sunday) and McGovern’s will be open and SFOM will be gathering for both games.  Plan your schedules so that you & your holiday guests can join us for what hopefully will be important positioning games for the playoffs.

We need a big crowd to rock McGovern’s and cheer both the Steelers & Penguins on to victory over the Browns & Flyers.   Go Steelers & Let’s Go Pens!
