Meet Robin Cole at McGovern's

Hey Yinz Guys,

Who has a pair of Super Bowl rings, a tie to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team and will be at McGovern’s on Sunday?  No, we did not change the weekly trivia question…

Robin Cole Action PhotoThe answer is Robin Cole!  For those of yinz too young to remember or are new to Steelers Nation; Robin Cole was the team’s first round draft pick in 1977 out of the University of New Mexico where he earned All-American honors.  He played linebacker and defensive end for the Stillers for 11 seasons and one season with the New York Jets; finishing his career with 19.5 sacks and 5 interceptions.  Robin was part of two Super Bowl Champion teams with the Steelers and was named to the Pro Bowl. He still resides outside of Pittsburgh.

Robin and his wife Judith will be in town this weekend as their son, Jeremy, is the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team.  He joined the Gophers after spending the last eight seasons on the Rutgers staff.

Robin will also be in town promoting his charity "Robin Cole for Prostate Cancer"  The mission of the Foundation is to save lives by raising awareness to prostate cancer and the importance of PSA testing.  He and his 7 brother have all had this disease.

Robin will be signing various items (Terrible Towels, photographs, etc.) for donations going to his charity.  Additionally, your donations will earn raffle tickets for some prizes he is providing - drawn at the end of the 3rd quarter:

  • Football autographed by Robin

  • Steelers Fleece Blanket

  • Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Terrible Towel autographed by Robin

The SFOM has a great reputation in Steeler Nation and is known as a great place to visit for former members of the Black and Gold.  Come on out this Sunday and say hi to another Steelers legend!
